Granny Trolley Activism™
I created Granny Trolley Activism™ and the Granny Trolley Activism Toolkit™ in 2025 because I wanted to be able to get out and do activism in my own time without needing a van, a massive budget or loads of equipment.
I started experimenting with ways of making the things I needed lightweight, collapsible, inflatable and most importantly portable. An inflatable sofa and armchair. Blow-up beanbags. A picnic blanket that becomes a rug. Throws and cushions. A telescopic stool and table. Some fun solutions for stopping everything blowing away in the British weather.
I even developed my own lightweight, wind-resistant chalkboard.
Why a granny trolley?
Because activism shouldn't only be possible if you've got money, a car, a van, storage space or an organisation to financially support you, I wanted something I could fill up, wheel out of my house, take on public transport and set up myself.
It's deliberately low-cost, DIY, portable and a little bit ridiculous
